First step in selecting the right frame is to grab a whole lot of glasses and try them on.
“Then we get the customer to tell us their initial reaction” Greg says.
Next step is picking the negative points of each pair.
Are they too bright? Too dark? Uncomfortable?
“Usually after this step we end up with about two or three choices”
If needed the customer can come back with another outfit to see how the glasses will combine with different looks.
“I think women can get away with choosing brighter frames than men although we have seen a lot more colour coming into the men’s ranges,” says Greg.

In terms of shape Speers says there is no set formula to decide which shape suits which face.
Variables include face shape, size and shape of the nose, cheekbones, brow structure and the type of prescription lens that you need.
“Choosing the type of frames for your face is all about taking yourself out of your comfort zone” he says.
