Contact Lenses

Contact lenses can provide an alternative to spectacles in most people that require optical correction. Advances in lens designs and materials mean that there are now very few conditions which cannot be corrected by contact lenses. The following is a brief summary of current lens types.

Rigid Gas Permeable

Rigid lenses may provide the best optical solution for high prescription correction, especially if full time wear of contact lenses is desired. Rigid lenses require precise fitting for acceptable comfort and visual outcome. Computerised Corneal Topography, available at our Toowong practice, allows the required precision for excellent outcome.

Soft Contact Lenses

Soft contact lenses are made from materials which are very flexible so the lens takes up the same shape as the cornea. Most soft lenses are replaced on a two weekly or monthly schedule or can even be a daily disposable lens.

Continuous Wear Contact Lenses

Exciting developments in soft contact lens materials have led to the release of soft lenses that allow the eye to breathe safely enough for continuous wear. Imagine waking with your contact lenses already in for clear, comfortable, around-the-clock vision.

Whilst most patients can wear this new lens, the initial period needs to be closely monitored to review the eye's response to continued wear. Free trial lenses are available for the first month while a clinical decision is made as to whether you are able to wear these revolutionary new lenses

Bifocal Contact Lenses

Recent advances in lens design have led to the release of Disposable Bifocal lenses. A great solution for the baby boomers who have a different prescription for reading and long distance.

Contact Lens Consultations

For precise fitting of contact lenses, a full eye examination is first required so that all aspects of eye health can be reviewed and the optical prescription determined. Following this initial consultation, the shape of the cornea and the lifestyle expectations of the client are reviewed to determine the most appropriate contact lens type. Trial fitting generally follows so that the performance of the lenses can be carefully reviewed. Care and maintenance of the lenses and demonstration of how to insert and remove the lenses are all explained before starting a new contact lens wearer on their schedule. Regular after-care check-ups ensure that any complications with contact lens wear are detected and remediated early.

Contact Lens Warranty

At Clarity we are confident that we can ensure contact lens success. We will issue free disposable soft lenses until we are confident that any order of disposable lenses will be successful.

All custom made rigid and soft contact lenses are covered by a 3 month satisfaction guarantee.
